A Course in Miracles REMOVE THE BLOCKS TO THE AWARENESS OF LOVE'S PRESENCE IN YOUR LIFE (ACIM) A Course in Miracles. What is it? A simple explanation: A Course in Miracles is an effective thought system that helps us to remove the wall around our hearts that keeps love, peace and happiness away. One step at a time, we learn to remove those blocks by changing our perceptions about ourselves, each other, the world and God. How did it come about? ACIM, the book, is the result of two people who were having conflicts at work. There was much backbiting in their department. Once they agreed to find "a better way" for people to be in relationship, Dr. Helen Schucman, a research psychologist at Columbia University, heard an inner voice that instructed her to take notes in shorthand. She spent nearly ten years listening to an inner Voice whom is believed to be that of Jesus. Dr. William Thetford, her co-worker, typed the notes for her and supported her through the process. Her notes eventually became a 1,200 page book entitled A Course in Miracles. Part one is called the Text, which explains the foundation or theory behind this dynamic spiritual thought system. Part two is the Workbook Lessons, one for every day of the year. This section helps us to integrate the ideas into our daily lives. The third section is the Manual for Teachers, which is a real clear explanation of the major ideas and terms. All three sections together provide the framework for an individual's personal transformation.

What is its goal? The goal of A Course in Miracles, to my understanding, is to bring happiness and inner peace to anyone who is open and willing to use these teachings in their daily life. We learn that God wants to be first in our lives. We are to remember the truth, that we are eternally connected to God/Divine, each other and all living things. We learn that only the love is real, anything else is either an illusion or your own nightmare. We are to develop the understanding that all interactions are either of LOVE or A CALL FOR LOVE. The appropriate response is always a LOVING one. A Course in Miracles has helped millions of people to realize a better way of being; one in which they feel more loved, loving, aware, worthy, peaceful, happy, relaxed, safe and connected. The power behind all this is inner peace and a more total, abundant relationship with God. A Course in Miracles is not a religion, but a spiritual discipline or what is known as a form of spiritual psychotherapy. A Course in Miracle's student’s are guided from within by the Holy Spirit or Jesus, and our most valuable teachers are those with which we have relationships. ACIM says that the relationship between us is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
